Our Story — Natural Ice Cream in Sigulda
I remember how, back in my childhood, ice cream would melt and trickle in a thin stream down your hand, and every so often you just had to lick it off… If you were wearing your good clothes, mum would wrap the ice cream cone in a pocket handkerchief so it wouldn't stain. Happiness, wonder and indescribable joy – those are memories worth holding on to.
We wanted it to be like that again – FOR REAL.
That's why everything we make is real and natural. Real milk and cream. Real strawberries, rhubarb, chocolate and rye bread. Carefully sourced and tested ingredients. Real tastes and aromas!
How it
all began
Siguldas saldējums has been a family business in Sigulda since 2014. From the very beginning we held to one simple idea — ice cream should be made from real milk and sweet cream, without vegetable fats, artificial colours or flavourings.
In the early years, you could find our ice cream on the streets of Sigulda and at local markets. Later, it reached the display cases of major retail chains — Rimi, Sky, Maxima, Stockmann. That was an honour and a big achievement. But we soon realised that ice cream made in small batches from fresh berries delivers its true value right here at home — in Sigulda. That's why in 2018 we opened a café in the Sigulda Castle Quarter.
Our philosophy is simple: if you can't explain what an ingredient is, it doesn't belong in the ice cream. Ice cream should be made from real ingredients — milk and fruit, not jarred concentrates. You won't find pistachio or mango here — we champion Latvian flavours. Our idea of exotic is hazelnut praline and sea buckthorn. Every summer we welcome guests from Riga, Tallinn, Berlin and Tokyo with natural ice cream — Latvian fruit and berry flavours you won't find anywhere else.
